This fall, UC Merced will commemorate the 10thanniversary of its groundbreaking with a series of events on campus and in the city of Merced intended to build closer ties with the community and showcase the many ways UC Merced is fulfilling its mission to the people of the San Joaquin Valley, the state of California and the world at large.

“It Takes a Village: From Vision to Reality” will recognize the determination and support of local residents, civic leaders, businesses, donors and others who helped attract the newest UC campus to Merced as well the team of university founders, including major donors, who brought it to fruition.

Several events throughout the celebration will recognize founding faculty and staff as well as honor founding Legacy Circle donors, University Committee members, Foundation Board of Trustees and government officials who played a part prior to the university’s groundbreaking on Oct. 25, 2002.
